I'll be your Wedding Adviser

09:04:00 Talister 0 Comments

In case y'all are unaware, I'm a Wedding Planner by profession. When I meet my couples for the first time they either A) Know exactly what they want B) Think they know exactly what they want C) Looking for a cheap ass rate or D) Are completely lost and don't even know where to begin! And that's honestly alright, I get you're obviously doing this for the first time, which is why I'm here for. To guide you and be your consultant, advisor, florist, bodyguard, waitress and mediator (when the in-laws get too much involved) Here are my tips for you:

1) Okay, so most people may like to think that this has nothing at all to do with weddings or planning a wedding but its actually the most crucial part. Please make sure this is YOUR WEDDING and not anyone elses. Have exactly what you want on your wedding day because you and your partner both want to and agree to, not because your parents or in-laws want you to. This may sound selfish and not understanding at all but don't ever let your parents have it their way on your wedding day. It is your wedding day after all. They may influence and convince you with their opinions but its vital at the end of the day to ask yourself  'Do I really want it this way?' 'Am I doing it to jaga my parents/in-laws hati?' Your wedding is ultimately about WHAT YOU WANT. You are allowed to have it whatever way you want, and please by all means go all out. But if you really really have to listen to your parents or choose to leave the arrangements to your parents/in laws for your own personal reasons, my advise is as long as they have a mutual understanding of your needs and wants for the Wedding.

2) Don't stress, don't stress, don't stress. I know that's easier said then done. But hey that's the whole point of my existence as a Wedding Planner right? Make sure you have someone or sometwo or three helping you throughout your wedding arrangements process, trust me its a lot and you can't do it on your own. Get a Wedding Planner who has wide contacts for the necessary vendors, one with patience, honesty and most importantly one that understands exactly what you need and want for your dream wedding. Why honesty? Because that's vital! They have to be your advisors and tell you like it is if something may or may not work out and offer suggestions.

3) Plan ahead of time. Yes, never ever leave things to the last resort, it will be hectic as hell and that's when you start to stress and be a little bitch. Try to get the venue sorted at least 6-12 months ahead of your wedding day. Venue being booking the church/temple, restaurants, hotels, halls or whatever dream venue you want. If its a hotel/hall you're planning to book, bare in mind that you'll have to pay a certain deposit amount as 'booking fee' so please have your credit cards/cash/cheque books on standby.

4) Set a budget.  Please for the love of God and yourselves set a budget. Once you have a budget, you'll know roughly how much you have to work your ass for to fund for the Wedding. The $ comes from: Clothes (Bride & Groom Gowns/Suit, Bridesmaid & Groomsmen Gowns & Suits) Bare in mind how many Groomsmen & Bridesmaid you plan to have, you may get excited and end up having like 10 each, but people once you have to start paying for them you wish you never had 10. Photo Album/Photography/Videography, Bridal Car, Venue, Entertainment (Dancers, Band, DJ) Beauty (Hair & Make-up Artist, Manicure/Pedicure, Spa/Massage/Facial) Alcohol, Invitation (Thank You Gifts, Invitation Cards) Rooms (Applicable if you're having it at a hotel), External Vendors (Florist, Dessert Bars, Sound & Light Team, Decorators)

That should be about it and all I can think of atm. Please comment and let me know in any way if you need guidance in planning your wedding or someone elses wedding, I'm always here to help and listen.

Slimming Centres: Scam or Truth?

02:47:00 Talister 0 Comments

Having given 6 sessions of complimentary trial by a slimming centre, I decided to give it go even though I was truthfully quite doubtful of the results and for the most part because I thought it would be a good product review. So the session took about 2 and half hours, and this consultant who I was referred to there took measurements of my total body, weight, height and total body fat. When the results were out she said that I had 'too much' fat in my body and that I needed to loose it fast and immediately of course started selling me all these packages to lose weight. I refused to buy those packages she offered and said that I will just go ahead with the basic treatment that was given complimentary... that was her first attempt. She walked me to this room, took before and after pictures of my body and then proceeded with the first treatment. She first rubbed cold gel on my tummy area which was my main fat loosing area and then used a hot tool equipment rubbing against my tummy to 'melt' away the fats. After which she led me to the second room laid me down in this coffin like machine and told me that its main purpose is to increase my metabolism rate and burn total body fat.
When the session was over she of course again was pushing for me to buy those packages, bare in mind that the cost of those packages ranged up to at least MYR 3,000 to MYR 30,000. That's completely ridiculous but yet an amount of society are strongly convinced by it. Being a wedding planner/sales person, I knew her tricks so don't even try it with me. I got off her hook giving her excuses like I'll refer a friend to you who I know has been really trying to loose weight for years but bla bla bla (being or adding in the drama always works, trust me!)
So long story short, my whole take or conclusion to this is that:
1)NEVER use the FAST & EASY way out to anything. Slimming centres like this may always promise you this and that result 'without having to go to the gym' or 'not necessarily maintaining a diet plan' or 'you'll see the results in weeks' If having a great body or being fit and healthy is what you want then you have got to work hard for it. Where's the fun and thrill if there's no challenge to that right? If you opt to use the easy way out (and I'm not talking about merely fitness, I'm talking life in general) then how will you learn and unravel new things about yourself? How will you challenge yourself to be the best you choose to be? How will you make yourself so proud and accomplished? Think about it.
2) Body Image. When I was there and refused to buy the packages, the consultant kept saying that she wants to 'help me be skinny' and that I have a 'pear-shaped' body and she wants to 'make it straight' Girl, I really already am slim, I just have fatty areas to work on. When she took the before and after pictures of me, I realized that I love my body for the way it is. I really do. We all have different bodies that we just need to learn to embrace. I for one, had a not so easy time embracing and loving and ultimately accepting my body. You know, sometimes you have to go through the negative to help you journey through the positive.
3) Eat Clean, Train Hard. I never realized me daily diet plan was doing harm to my body, storing more fat in my tummy then I thought it would. You don't need supplements or slimming centres to help you loose weight. They would first say that you don't need the gym and a healthy diet, but once you sign up for it that's when they say 'oh you know you have to control your food and eat healthy as well. Only doing this treatment won't help you loose weight'
In summary, slimming centres in my personal opinion may not be as trustworthy. However, everyone is entitled to their opinions based on their results and testimonies so I'm just gonna leave it as that.
